Integrated systems producing non-fossil fuel energy, hydrogen, food and recycling water, greenhouses, aquaponics, green buildings, papercrete, remote sensing and sustainability.
PREVIOUS RESEARCH
Aquaculture, water reuse systems, genetics, physiology and production of striped bass, channel catfish, tilapia, other warmwater fish, marine microalgae, single cell protein nutrient recycling from cattle feedlots, integrated agriculture and aquaculture systems, remote sensing and GAP analysis, and bioinformatics. Indoor air quality, airborne contaminants, infectious diseases, odor control, smoke removal, research, design and development of machines to improve air quality, biomass gasifiers, and renewable energy.
TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Technical trade school 1961-1962 – machinist and welder; U.S. Air force 1962-1966 – communications and electronics repair; RCA TV manufacturing 1966-1968 – electronics parts inspector. House builder – including 6 houses for Habitat for Humanity. Hobbies include wood working, wood sculptures, hot rods, greenhouses, and bamboo.

Member of the American Fisheries Society (AFS), Certified Fisheries Scientist; World Aquaculture Society; has held several offices in AFS (President – Southern Division AFS, President-Fish Culture Section AFS, President – Introduced Fish Section AFS, and others) and served on numerous professional committees, directed research of graduate students, visiting scientists and other professionals; served as Associate Editor, program chair for national and international meetings and professional groups, presented courses on fish culture to Federal and state personnel, to fish farmers and investors with an interest in aquaculture. Served as official U.S. delegate or technical representative to international conferences and projects in Russia, Italy, France, Norway, Ecuador, and the Mid-East countries. Fellow – American Institute of Fishery Biologists, 1989. World Aquaculture Society Certificate of Appreciation, 1989. Distinguished Service Award, AFS, 1992.
